Hello, everyone! This is going to be the last post in our three part series. I have had a lot of fun writing all of these blogs and I hope that I’m addressing the topic well.

In the last post we were talking about one of my clients and how they came in to talk about their nutritional past. There were lots of ups and downs, and they were in a down at that point. We discussed the changes that would have to be made and the time that it would take to make them. There isn’t a quick fix to these problems, they take time. And we ended the blog with talking about control, or the lack of it.

So, to get back to the topic of control: there are some that are there for control. There is always a little bit that you can control, just like the circumstance that I went through this week. There were certain factors that I could control, I just couldn’t control the outcome, and that is the same with our health and fitness plans.

With your health and fitness you can control certain aspects, you can decide when you’re going to exercise, when you’re going to eat well, and you can decide when you’re going to go to sleep on time. But, you aren’t going to be able to decide whether or not your body will burn fat first, or how many inches you’re going to lose in the first week, or when your body is going to start to regulate itself.

There are certain things that are out of our control, and that’s typically what infuriates people the most. People will start to feel like they are inferior-like they don’t have what it takes to stay committed and focused on their goals. Maybe it’s that they lack the discipline, maybe it’s that they lack the structure, maybe it’s that they don’t have the focus or the intention, but really it just comes down to the fact that there are certain factor that we cannot control.

Now, there is a lot that we can manipulate, there is a lot that we can influence, and there is a lot that we can start to build towards, but if you are looking for instantaneous results then you are looking in the wrong place. It’s not going to happen, especially if you have 20 plus pounds to lose, or if you are at a point of health where you have things like diabetes or high blood pressure.

These things are going to take time. It’s not that it’s not worth doing, because it absolutely is-this is your health, this is your life. However, the more that you understand that it takes time to get there, and when you understand that while you can control how you get there, you can’t control when you get there, then you are going to start to have more of a positive outlook on the entire experience.

So, guys, I’m going to be doing a few more blogs like this soon because I feel like I’ve been getting a lot of people in lately that have been feeling really beaten up. They feel depressed and angry because they have been through so many programs and so many ideas. They’ve starved themselves, they’ve eaten crazy things, they’ve meal prepped three meals for their families, they’ve exercised until they felt like they were going to puke or pass out, and all of that will leave you broken. These people are ready and in need of change. So I thought that getting into the law of control today would be a great way to ease into what’s been going on here lately.

I hope that if you identify with any of the above that you can find hope in this series-that you can find hope knowing that it is in our human nature to respond the way that we do, but also that with human nature comes the choices that we make. As an individual you can make those choices to better your life knowing that you can take control of what you are able to take control of.

So, with all of that being said, I am officially going to wrap up our series on the law of control and why it’s messing up your life. I hope that you all got something out of this. I feel like most of us can identify with that broken person in some ways, so I hope that if you did see some of yourself in there that you also saw the hope.
