Hi guys, Kris from Custom Fitness here, your Amarillo personal trainer. Today we’re going to be wrapping up the two part series on how your greatest changes come from consistency. Now be sure to read part one if you haven’t already at the link here: And as always, if you have any questions about today’s blog then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188
So in the last blog we were talking about goals. One of those goals was physique goals. So i’m going to get back into this series with a story about one of my clients.
So, I was actually just discussing this with a client the other day as they were noticing that their weight wasn’t doing what they wanted it to do, but their clothes were still fitting better and their body was changing. And they were confused because of this picture of weight that we paint for ourselves. So instead of focusing on that, take a step back and do what I told that client to do: look at body composition and health level.
Body composition is how much fat vs. how much muscle you have. Seeing that will give a much better picture of someone’s current health than what a scale will. So you’re going to step back and look at that instead of just the number on the scale and realize its importance. It’s still not the entire picture, because there are so many pieces to this picture. So you want to take a look at that and think about what your ultimate goal is.
For a lot of people, when you sit down with them and figure out what their ultimate goal really is, it’s going to be health. Then after that, it’s going to be fitness. So you can be skinny, you can be fit, but let’s go with fit because that can also mean healthy. And we know that anytime that you’re trying to make changes to the outside of your body, you need to get the inside of the body healthy first. If you don’t don’t fix the inside of the body first, then the outside isn’t going to change.
So whether you have something like a joint issue, or extra inflammation, or extra fat, your body has to be healthy on the inside first before there is that outer change. So that’s where we at Custom Fitness are a little bit different, we actually work with clients from the inside out. We work in all realms in a comprehensive program to where they get exercise and nutrition, but they also get the lifestyle part that will help the body to become healthier. And we start to work on goals slowly, a little bit at a time, so that you can stairstep your way to those goals. Most of our clients see great success with that. So if you’re taking goals into too large of a step, then you may not notice results as quickly as if you took those steps at a better pace.
So, today whenever you have time to sit down and think, I want you to sit down and think about what your goals really are. Are those goals quick fixes? If they are, are they really worth it? If you did a quick fix today and it made you lose 50 pounds, that would be awesome right? But what if those 50 pounds from that quick fix caused you to be severely unhealthy a year or two from now? Would it be worth it?
So that’s the risk that you run everytime that you try one of these new supplement products, or these new diet fads. And a lot of the time, we really don’t know the long term risks while you’re being sold at by the people pushing this shiny, new plan. And sometimes even the people that are trying to sell this to you don’t even know. They don’t know how this is going to affect you, they can’t customize it to you.
So what you want to do is go with things that are foundational in value. You want to know that they start off with the foundations. You want to see that these are things that have been done before, researched, gone through trials, and are safe. And you want to make sure that this isn’t just plain crazy.
So like with our clients, whenever we’re teaching them how to eat, we teach them how to eat food. We aren’t throwing supplements at them. And I have to make it clear that not all supplements are bad, but we make sure to make the actual food the basis of our client’s diet. And this is food that not only they can eat, but that their entire family can eat. So that means that it’s safe enough for the kids, it’s safe enough for for your family, it’s safe enough for the client. This causes results, but it doesn’t take all of the hype information out there. Because the hype can be positive or negative. So can it cause results? Yes. Are they healthy results? That’s doubtful.
So that wraps up part two on how your greatest changes come from consistency. I hope y’all enjoyed these blogs! This is one of those points that I really want to hammer home for people. It isn’t easy to make these changes, and sometimes the changes that you get aren’t always what you expect. Sometimes if you try to take the easy road, there you get those bad results. But when you really work towards your goals, your changes will be unexpected in the best way.
