If you haven’t read part one yet then please go read that, and expect part three coming soon. And if you have any questions about today’s blog, then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188

So last time we were talking about how weight gain is actually a symptom. It can cause so many health problems that you may not even realize are there.

So there’s a lot that we do to our body for looks, for vanity’s sake, but we’ve got to always remember that there’s a health aspect to all this, that if our bodies are healthy from the inside out, that they’re going to show that, they’re going to look healthy, they’re going to feel healthy, and you’re not going to be hurting all the time, you’re not going to be carrying around all this excess weight. Your joints won’t be breaking down the same way, and you’ll have a ton more energy and be able to play with your family and your friends and whatever else that you’re trying to do during the day.

So reasons for weight gain, remember that that weight can be fluid, it can be inflammation, it could be fat, there’s a myriad of factors here, but reasons for that could be your inflammation, it could be hormone imbalance. If you haven’t had your hormones checked, let’s say that you’re a mom and you haven’t ever had your hormones checked after you had kids, there’s a very high likelihood that those things are off. If you’ve been over the age of 40 and you haven’t had your hormones checked, it’s a very high likelihood that those things are off.

It’s a very fragile balance with our hormones as to what we have to keep in check and how we do that, and if we get them out of whack, they cause all sorts of problems. But here’s the things, hormones require fat in order to build more hormones, so your body has to store more fat in order to make more, right? All right?

Then you’ve got things like physiological disruptions, from yo-yo dieting, that’ll cause chronic issues to your metabolism and so many other things, to insulin resistance, causing Type 2 Diabetes, and so much more. There are so many internal systems in your body, and they all have to work just right. If you’ve caused a disruption in those, whether you meant to or not, then it’s going to disrupt where you’re at currently.

Emotion is another huge factor in this. And emotion can not only lead to fat gain, it can also lead to inflammation gain because inflammation can come from stress as well, not just from your foods. So if you are highly stressed out, and you’re an emotional eater, then you are going to be storing more fat because you’re stressed, which is going to build the levels of cortisol within your body, which is going to cause your body to store more fat and cause you to crave more fat, so therefore you’re eating it, and it’s just a vicious cycle that you’re in.

So when your systems are struggling, your body can’t do what you want it to do as far as losing weight because it’s in chaos mode. You’re telling it look pretty, and your body’s telling you that it can’t survive. So it’s kind of a lose-lose battle here, because you’re not getting what you want, but your body’s not getting what it wants. Weight loss is so much harder in that state, and it is definitely not sustainable. So where you may go into a crash diet and you start to lose weight, that’s great, but six or eight weeks later you start to gain it back, that’s the problem. The body cannot maintain that level because it’s in a chaos mode.

So in order to calm the body down, we have to start to remember that number one, any change that we want from our body has to come from within. We have to look at our health first. Our health has to be number one. There is no quick fix, there is no magic pill, and these people who tell you that you can take shakes to lose weight without ever exercising or really eating a healthy diet, they lie. Changes will change your body, and immediate changes, is you haven’t done anything else recently and you change that, you are going to see changes, I won’t lie to you about that.

So i’m going to end part two here. The next blog is going to be the last in the series, and we will be getting more into some solutions for these issues. For now I will leave you with the message of health being the most important thing to consider. Health is the main thing that needs to be considered during the weight loss journey. In the end, our health is the most important thing that we have. Without it, there isn’t much we can do. Looks will fade, but if you are healthy and feel good, then that will bring happiness.
