Hi guys,  Kris from Custom Fitness here, your Amarillo personal trainer. Today we’re going to be talking about three questions you need to ask yourself in order to propel you towards success. This is going to be the first part in a two part series, so be on the lookout for part two coming soon. And if you have any questions about today’s blog, then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188

Now, success can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. But we see it a lot of times that maybe we aren’t quite as invested in what we’re doing or focused on what we’re doing as what we should be right?

We all have these little voices in our head that say, hey you need to go and build some muscle tone, you’ve gotta get rid of some body fat, you’ve gotta get rid of this excess fluid that you’re carrying around, the excess inflammation. You’ve just gotta feel better. You gotta be healthy. You gotta be fit.

And then we try our very best, or so we think to step into the ring and start producing those results. But the problem is that a lot of times we haven’t stopped to ask ourselves the important questions to find out how serious we really are.

So question number one is, how committed am I? We know that this is not a magic pills situation. It’s not gonna happen in a matter of days, or weeks. It’s something that is small steps taken over a long period of time to produce results that will last you a lifetime. And that focus on being committed over that time length is going to be what makes or breaks you.

So if you’re only committed for six weeks and you said, well you know what I will do this for six weeks but then I’ve got to go on to other things, so I better be in shape and healthy, well that’s great. But that would be like saying that you’re only going to eat for six weeks and then you won’t ever eat again.

We have to fuel our bodies, we have to take care of our bodies. And health and fitness may seem kind of like their part of the hype of what all is going on right now. But the problem is that it’s not hype, it’s taking care of you.

If you want to be around long enough to be able to hang out with your grandkids and play, and be energetic, and have a great quality of life the older you get, then we’ve gotta take care of ourselves now. And we’ve gotta do that consistently over time. So make sure and check in with that commitment level. Where are you at on your level of commitment?

Some people are just getting started and they’re like, “You know what I’m committed to starting it’s about all I got.” Other people are committed to going for six weeks. Other people are committed to going for a few months. Everybody’s a little different.

But the thing is that we’ve got to start to realize that our commitment level has to be beyond goals. It has to be beyond doing something because somebody else told us to, like the doctor.

It has to be because we understand that our health and fitness levels are what make or break us later on in life. And that if we want to be healthy and be able to live life to the fullest, we have to be healthy and fit and that’s just part of it.

So the second question is, how am I investing my time? Too often people are reaching for these goals, longing for success but they end up reaching at the wrong things right? So maybe they’re doing really great at their workouts, they’re killing it. But then in the evenings they’re taking their time and going out with friends and drinking, and eating whatever they want to.

Maybe they’re killing it on the diet part and then when it comes time to workout it’s like, well I’d rather just sit on the couch and do this. So we have to look at every moment of the day. Where are we investing our time? And is that pushing towards our goals?

That may sound daunting. It may sound a little scary to some of you who aren’t quite at the level of being self motivated yet. But the thing is, we’ve got realize that everything that we do is a choice. And every choice that we make affects our level of success. Does that mean you can’t ever have fun? Absolutely not. Does it mean that you can’t ever have a lazy day? No.

But what it means is that the majority overall we have to look at where our time is being invested and how we’re using our time wisely to reach our goals. So we can’t sit back in the corner and complain about not reaching them, if we haven’t been actually investing the time that it’s gonna take and the energy that it’s gonna take into whether that be exercise, or meal prep, or grocery store shopping, or whatever it may be okay?

So i’m going to end part one here. In part two we’re going to be talking about the third question that you need to ask yourself.
