Last time we were talking about one of our client that was having some issues with staying on track. She was having some struggles with that and, as we talked through that, we figured out that, you know, her trouble wasn’t really with the food, it was with, obviously, accountability. She had been with us for so long that we had kind of extended out our check-ins on her so that she didn’t feel like we were pestering her all the time, which most people really enjoy, but times like this happen, and we have to kind of rein them back in.
So what we started with her was a two-week check-in, and basically, a weekly text to make sure things were good, and then every two weeks actually getting on the phone together, talking, making sure things are good. Through doing that process, now, we are at a point where she’s back on track, back to losing, back to the success that she was seeing before, and getting her body back to better health.
So the main factor that influences your health, your fitness, your wellness, all of it, is consistency with the right habits. Right? So, sometimes we have to really step back and ignore our own wisdom, if you will, that we need to change or we need to do this or this is happening, and I just know that it’s got to be this. Because most of that wisdom, or so-called wisdom, is coming from what you’ve heard from others or read on the internet. Right? I hate to burst your bubble, but not all that stuff is true.
So instead of trusting in our own wisdom, sometimes we need to trust in the process. As long as we’re following, obviously, a safe and foundationally approached process, then we’ve got to have faith in the system that if we continue down the right path, we will end up at the right destination, but if we start to follow down that path and then we kind of fall off the path, then yeah, we need to make some changes to re correct and get back on.
But if we’re on that path and things are going well, why change it? Right? If we know that that’s worked for our bodies, if we know that that’s how we feel our best, and we know that the doctors are happy with what all we’re doing, why change a good thing?
So that’s kind of my question to you today is are you on a path that is structurally sound, that is going to lead you to the right place safely, enhancing not only your body composition and your appearance but also your health? Because that’s a huge thing. Many, many plans can help you to lose weight, can help you to look different, but they do not all help your health. Your health is super-important because if you lose that weight and you look different, but you are unhealthy, you are not further ahead than you were before. That health is going to stay with your chronically for the rest of your life.
The yo-yo dieters out there that lose and gain and lose and gain, that becomes a chronic issue that hinders their heart ability, that hinders their lung capacity, that hinders their metabolism, both your resting metabolic rate, kind of all of those things snowball into one. It messes with their hormones. It can make life miserable.
So instead of focusing just on the outside, which is so hard to do because that’s what we see in the mirror every day, and that’s what we want to change desperately, we have to start looking inside and understand that our health is number one, and if we get our health in check and our body’s working correctly from eating well, exercising well, sleeping well, hydrating well, doing the things that we know that we’re supposed to do, and getting them in, then all the other stuff becomes so much easier. It becomes simpler. It doesn’t become this task that we have to go and wrestle down because we’re working on the inside and all those other things start to change on the outside because we have enhanced our health.
A lot of times we forget that that’s the big piece of the puzzle, the big picture, if you will, that our health is number one. If we focus on that first, then making all the other changes comes so simply, and it’s so simple to work on our health if we focus on eating well, sleeping well, exercising, hydrating well, the things that you already know to do.
So today, take a look at your goal set. Take a look at what you’re doing currently and see if that fits into the puzzle. Is your health number one in your mind as far as why you’re doing these things? Because honestly, without health, we don’t have longevity of life. Without health, we don’t have quality of life. Without health, we can’t play with our kids or go to work and have a great day each day. We’ve got to work on feeling well and being well in order to look well.
