Since this week is kicking off the official “Thanksgiving Season” I thought I would take a moment to reflect on 2020 so far.

I know you may be thinking that sounds like a crazy idea, but hang in there with me and let’s see what we can do with this.

2020 was projected to be an amazing year. A year of forward vision and focus for us all. In business, it was projected to take a leap over 2019 and create better revenues, profits and more jobs.

As we all know, 2020 was more of a surprise than a projection. Things have happened this year that have had us scratching our heads and spinning our wheels just trying to figure out what to do next.

Sadly, that’s where most people stop. They get stuck in the feelings of frustration, lack of control, anger and loneliness. They don’t know how to move forward and find joy or happiness again, especially in the midst of the chaos they are perceiving.

Maybe that’s you?

Throughout the surprises of 2020, I have had a few crucial rules that I’ve held to which add things like peace, joy, happiness and positivity to my life.

  1. Find 5 things/people you are grateful for each day and either list them out (if they are “things”) or let them know (if they are people). Do this every day without fail.
  2. Let go of what you can’t hold on to. — We are so focused on controlling all situations all of the time, which is actually hilarious considering how little control we actually do have most of the time. It’s time to focus on YOUR controllables and let go of the rest.
  3. Pray without ceasing – but not for your own will ;o)
  4. Don’t hold the world on your own shoulders – find someone you can confide in and talk through the things that are dragging you down
  5. Always be ready for an adventure – we don’t know what tomorrow will bring but it’s always worth it to find the bright spots and enjoy the ride.

These 5 things have helped keep my Type A self sain this year. Not that I haven’t had my own struggles throughout the months, but by relying on these 5 rules daily I’ve been able to work through the issues at hand and find peace in the moment.

Today, I am THANKFUL for the many blessings I’ve experienced this year. From clients who have graciously been flexible with their styles of training and have offered up prayers and given support to our small business to keep us going and growing this year to being able to have some sense of “normalcy” through online options- whether for church, ballet or school.
I am thankful that 2020 has allowed me to step outside of my “box” of a comfort zone and to rethink ways of doing things. To be able to offer services and to support others in different ways.

I am GRATEFUL that my business has been able to sustain, that we have clients who are dedicated to their health, that my family has been able to figure out solutions to problems together and that no matter what’s been thrown at us, we’re still kicking!

I am BLESSED to have such wonderful people in my life who care enough to ask how things are going. To have the opportunity to support others in their struggles and in their victories. And to have peace that can only come from above.

I hope that something in this letter can help you today. Through the struggles you’ve been facing and those that are to come.
