Today I am here to tell you to stop dieting to finally get some real results. I know, I know that sounds absolutely crazy to most people. These days we are taught practically from birth that dieting is the way to lose weight, that dieting is the way to look the way that you want yourself to. And the problem with that is that whenever people diet, they typically go on an extreme bout of restricting what is put into their body instead of trying to put good in.
People are in the mindset that everything that they enjoy eating tastes good, so they think that they can’t eat those things that taste good and just restrict. And that works okay for a little while, that is until their brain kicks in and is tired of restricting and then just goes into binge mode. That’s when someone gets tired of all of that restriction and just starts eating whatever they want whenever.
So while you don’t want to “diet”, you do want to consider that it might be time to put good fuel into your body by adding in good nutrition. And good nutrition isn’t just restrictions. Granted, you are going to be taking away things like the high fructose corn syrup, and all of those super sweet treats. What you aren’t going to be doing is taking away every food possibility. When you do that all you’re left with is dry chicken and salad, and no one can get very far on that. So if you really want to start seeing changes in your body, life, energy, and health, then you have to start fueling your body with good nutrition.
Dieting especially causes a problem whenever you start to yo-yo. Whenever you start to go in and out of different types of scenarios and different types of dieting the body doesn’t know how to handle it. Whenever you are doing something for a little while and then you fall off of the wagon the body kind of goes into a panic mode. When this happens what you want to do is start to calm the body down.
Now there are three different reasons to why you would really want to stop the dieting cycle. The first is that every time you restrict calories or nutrition from your diet, your body starts to go into starvation mode.
Starvation mode is where your body is actually going to hold on to fat and start to store more fat while letting go of muscle. So everytime that you eat your body is going to store more fat because it doesn’t know the next time that you are going to get those specific nutrients that it needs at the moment. Your body is going to hold onto those just in case so that it can use it again for the next time it needs it. So starvation mode really starts to cause an issue because you’ll start to lose that muscle tissue, and muscle raises your metabolism. When you don’t have that muscle tissue, you have a lower metabolism, you have the body storing excess fat, and you’re not going to be happy with your results, or lack thereof.
The second reason is that through that process you start to have (for lack of a better term) a skinny-fat look. That’s where you have that saggy skin, you start to look a bit ill, and people are trying to figure out if you’re okay. It’s where you don’t have any muscle tone, the body is very small and trimming down, but it still just doesn’t look healthy. And it isn’t, there is still a lot of unheath in the body, and it actually takes a lot of work to rebuild health in the body.
So that can cause a problem, because I’d bet that part of the reason that you’re doing this is to change the way that you look. So if you want to change the way that you look, then you don’t want to do it in a way that isn’t going to get you to the results that you want. You need to do this in a way that is going to give you the results that you want and is going to make so much more sense. So in order to to get to that you need to be fueling your body, you’re exercising, you’re resistance training– it just doesn’t work the same way if you don’t.
So i’m going to end part one here. In part two we’re going to be talking about the biggest concern of mine: nutrition and if you are getting enough of it.
