Hi guys,  Kris from Custom Fitness here, your Amarillo personal trainer. Today we’re going to be wrapping up the two part series on living outside of the bubble. Now be sure to read part one if you haven’t already at the link here: And as always, if you have any questions about today’s blog then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188

Last time I was talking to you guys about the first two things you have to remember about living outside of the bubble: nobody is perfect, and it’s okay to have fun. Now for today I’m going to bring it home with my third tip.

So the third thing to remember is that life is never going to be calm. Ever.

I have a lot of people that tell me, “Oh I really want to start up with you, but I have (X,Y,Z) going on right now, and it just isn’t a good time.” They usually tell me that they’ll try again in a month or so, but in a month or so another thing is just going to come up. Maybe you aren’t as busy at work anymore, but now your kids are needing more help with school. Or now that the kids are doing great, your parents are needing you. There is always something that is going to keep you busy. There will never be that perfect, calm moment to add in a lifestyle change.

Instead, make it a tiny pebble that you drop in. Make whatever moments that you have work for you. So make the plan of action work for you and put that into small steps that you can handle. But you also want to make sure that whatever moments that you have available (maybe they aren’t the perfect moments for you) work.

I had to deal with finding the right time myself. It used to be that I would workout at 5AM, I would go with a friend and we’d go for a run or do a workout. And that was great… before children. Then I had kids and I really couldn’t go out at 5AM because someone had to watch the kids. So I got thrown a little, and it started making it hard to workout. I didn’t know when I was going to fit it in. But then I found some downtime during the day where the kids were playing or sleeping, and I was able to get that workout. And it wasn’t at my preferred time, I didn’t feel like I was at my best like I was at 5AM, but I got it done and that’s the big part to remember.

So I want to be sure that you know those three things: nobody is perfect, it is okay to enjoy life, and life will never be calm so make the most of the moments that you have. Whenever you do that, you will to see changes in your health, physique, weight, and in everything that you want to see changes in without having to kill yourself trying to aim for perfection.

The other thing is that when we try and aim for perfection, we typically tend to overthink, over-do, and over-stress. Doing this is just going to get less done than you would when you are just trying to make the most out of every moment.

I have one client that doesn’t do that many actual “workouts” per say, but whenever she is cooking she does squats and lunges. Whenever she is doing laundry she does  pushups in between loads. Between picking up kids she’ll stop at the park and do some burpees. She finds those moments–get some fresh air, get some things done, while she has a beat she gets in some exercise. So you can always try and throw something in and see what happens.

When it comes to food, you can always add in a new food a week, or a new meal a week to try out. And maybe don’t try and overhaul your entire diet right now, but start changing one meal in the week to something healthier, and in a few weeks you can add in another day to have a healthy meal. Over time you can start to build health into your life.

So no matter how busy you are, how stressed you are, and how crazy life is, there is always a chance to get something in. It may not be as easy as it used to be, but there is always a way to get it done.

That is one of the things that our clients love. We have a lot of working parents that are clients with us, and we are able to help them still be able to get in some time to take care of themselves in between the craziness. We work with them on how to do workouts in little time, with little equipment, and encourage them when they are frustrated. Also, we help with nutrition to take one more stress out of your life. Living a healthy lifestyle takes work, but it is always attainable. It will differ from person to person depending on their lives. There is no perfect plan for everyone, the perfect plan should be perfect for you. It doesn’t have to be overly complicated, it doesn’t have to kill you, you just have to make it work for you.

So, if you are wanting the accountability and help with creating an action plan to see results, or are wanting to someone to help create a workout plan to push you to your greatest potential, then that’s what we’re here for.
