Hi guys,  Kris from Custom Fitness here, your Amarillo personal trainer. Today we’re going to be talking about living outside of the bubble. This is going to be the first part in a two part series, so be on the lookout for part two coming soon. And if you have any questions about today’s blog, then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188

So have you ever thought about instead of going with the flow, going against the flow? Well today we are going to be talking about living outside of the bubble, and learning to live with imperfection.

So we live in a society where most everyone wants to change. People want to change the way they live, the way that they feel, the way they look, there are a multitude of things that people want to change. And as human nature goes, they want that change to come immediately. So people start seeking out these fast solutions to their problems. And these solutions kind of go with the flow of everyone going and doing the same thing, but the things that people are doing are very complicated.

So take something like the 21 day fix diet. It sounds pretty simple, but as a personal trainer in Amarillo I hear talk from my clients about all sorts of things that they have tried before coming to us. And I have had clients explain how stressful and complicated it was to keep up with a diet like that. With plans like these, it’s usually too much for the average person to achieve. A lot of people don’t have the time to be meal prepping and sorting their foods into color groups. Between work, kids, friends, school, and everything else in between it’s too much to add to an already full plate for most. Fitting something so huge and new onto your plate is a lot, but if you add something the size of a pea on there, it’s not that big of a stress.

Let’s get back to talking about this “bubble” that we’re living in.

So you can do a six week diet that is crazy hard as long as you don’t leave the house, do everything right, and there is no stress invading your bubble from your job, or your family, then you’re fine! But the minute that you get a call from your friend that wants to go out, or you’re stressed out because you have to help your brother change a tire, then it all goes out the window. If your bubble pops then it’s gone.

What me and my team do here is try and teach people to live outside of the bubble. We know that there is more going on in your life than living in a happy little bubble. Everyone has extra craziness and stress that always manages to find its way in. It happens to us, and I can guarantee that it will happen to you. We are all human! No one can be perfect.

So that brings us into our first thing to cover about living outside of the bubble: nobody is perfect. You will have moments that are less than perfect. Maybe your workout didn’t go the way that you wished, or maybe you went for five minutes instead of thirty. Maybe your diet was completely blown today, maybe you went out to eat with friends and you went way off course. Well, that happens, but here is the thing; you can’t fail if you don’t stop. So as long as you pick yourself up and get yourself back on the track the next day, then you can’t fail.

If you haven’t stopped, if you haven’t given up, then you are still in the game. You had a slight regression, so then you move forward again. Or even having a pause–sometimes it’s not having a regression but sometimes it’s just that we stop for a moment. You paused, took a moment and then moved on. And that’s fine! That’s a good thing to have happen because it just shows again the need to live outside of that bubble.

The next thing I want to hammer home is that it’s important to enjoy life.

We follow a 90/10 rule here. 90% of the time you do what you are supposed to do and 10% of the time you have fun. And when you are in that 10%, you don’t have to have perfection to make results. Instead, that 90% of the time is going to give you the results that you need. So that 10% is around three meals a week that you can royally screw up however you want to and you are still going to be able to see success. As long as you follow the 90/10 rule then you’re doing good. So again, you can’t fail if you continue.

So i’m going to end part one here. In part two we’re going to be talking more about living outside of the bubble.
