Hi guys, Kris from Custom Fitness here, your Amarillo personal trainer. Today we’re going to be wrapping up the two part series on getting a better start. Now be sure to read part one if you haven’t already. And as always, if you have any questions about today’s blog then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188
Last time we were talking about how to make things work for you and your needs and when to seek out a professional. So if there’s areas of this that you feel confident in that I applaud you for going out and doing the research and doing this because there is a lot to it to make sure that you’re getting the right thing. But if you feel unconfident in that, then that’s where you want to seek out a professional team to be able to help you with that. All right, so that’s step one. What’s your body type? What kind of things fit in with that body type? What kinds of things don’t? What should we be emphasizing?
Step number two is to basically find or create, one or the other, an exercise and nutrition plan to meet those specific needs. So, that’s where I’m saying that you could do that on your own. Perfectly fine. If you can do that, I think that’s awesome. If that doesn’t fit into your lifestyle, then you could hire someone, like our professional team, to be able to step in and see an overview of kind of where you’re coming from, what you’re going towards, and then to be able to provide that plan for you, and then to be able to adjust that plan because the first plan may not be able to take you from point A to point B. We may have to kind of work a few extra steps in there to make sure that we get you where you want to be.
All right, so step three is a big one. Just because you have a plan doesn’t mean you’re going to get it done. Too often, my job becomes 90% accountability. Honestly, that’s just what it is. We’re there to not only provide plans for people but to walk with them on that journey to help provide accountability and support along the ways. That’s just a huge part. So finding an accountability partner whenever you are trying to make it through this better start is an absolute must. And that’s just somebody that maybe you meet with once a week or maybe you get on the phone call and just check in with each other. You know, did I actually do what I said I was going to do this week? Is this what it could be? I’ve had some people go as far as to put their workouts in their plan out on their Google calendar and share that calendar with a friend, and that way then their friend can check in with them. So, there’s lots of different ways that that can be done, but just having somebody there to kind of support and hold you accountable is huge and that alone is going to help us to get where we need to be, which, again, is consistency over time, right?
All right, so step four is the easiest, most evident step to do, but it’s the one that so many people forget. So many people go through the planning process, they research, and they find, and they get this plan altogether, and then they set up this friend is going to do it. How is it they never get started? So get going with it. Once you have a plan, put it on your calendar, put your start date, have your check-in dates. Make sure that you get it started because you’ve been having a million ideas, but you only get paid for done, right? You’re only going to get results if you actually do it.
It is so sad to me that so many info products now … And by info product I mean these things that you can buy online where it’s, you know, a six-week workout plan, or a 12-week nutrition plan, or whatever. So many info products down in the little disclaimer at the bottom have to say something to the effect of the results are not typical that have been shown. And if you don’t use this product, you will not see results. That’s ridiculous, right? We’re buying crap that we’re not even using and it gets filed in this huge never-ending electronic file cabinet that sometimes we even forget that we have. I have been victim of many times, so I speak from experience there.
But, the fact is that if you’re not using what it is that you intended to use, it’s not going to work. So if you create this plan, you go to all this effort, then you want to make sure that you’re actually going to do it. So, set a date on your calendar, get your accountability partner set up, and make sure you get going.
Now, as I said, if your life is to a point where maybe all that just either doesn’t make sense or it’s too much to handle, you just don’t need one more hat to wear during the day, that’s where people like Custom Fitness come in. So, our entire team works for every single client that we have. You don’t get just one trainer, you get four of us. You get our entire office team. You get our entire training team, which technically would be about six of us. So, we are there to help you, to help you stay on track, to provide you with plans of action that you can take, but we are there to do it with you. So instead of done-for-you or do-it-yourself, it’s more of a done-with-you-type program. We create it, we hand it to you, but then we walk with you through the process. Then, every four weeks we adjust things and change things to make sure that you’re getting exactly what you need.
So, if you are wanting the accountability and help with creating an action plan to see results, or are wanting to someone to help create a workout plan to push you to your greatest potential, then that’s what we’re here for. We work with our clients not just on fitness, but also nutrition.
