It happens all the time.
It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, what day it is or what next week brings.
We make a decision to create change in our lives, to improve our health.
Maybe it’s to stop smoking or to eat better or to start exercising…again.
Whatever it is, we say the same thing “starting ____ I’m going to do ________”
The problem lies in that first blank.
You know, the one where we say we’ll start anytime but now.
Most people lean towards Monday, some leave it more generic as “next week”.
The issue here is that no matter when it is, if it’s not right now then you’re procrastinating.
Procrastination does not lead to good things, in fact often putting things off leads us down the eternal path of continued procrastination. Meaning that we never get started.
Look, if your health is important enough that you’ve been thinking about it, enough to make a change, then today is the day!
It doesn’t matter whether it’s New Year’s day or March 23rd or September 9th, it’s time to take your health into your own hands today.
During the holidays many people put their health on hold…or try to. They stop exercising, they don’t concern themselves with eating right, lowering their stress levels, drinking their water or other healthy habits.
Instead they say, it can wait.
I’m sorry to be the one to burst your bubble but your health doesn’t go on vacation. It doesn’t celebrate holidays.
We’ve all been up in arms about keeping well this year. About not contracting viruses and other lovely germs.
We’re so concerned that at one point this year it cost me $49 for 1 gallon of bleach!!
But for some, that’s where it stops. We buy disinfectants and hand sanitizer like it’s going out of style but when it comes to taking care of our body and building our immune system through nutrition, exercise, sleep and less stress- some people say it’s too much.
They give up and expect the disinfectants to be enough.
If you don’t treat your body well, it won’t work the way it’s supposed to.
If you don’t treat your body well, it’s more likely to contract disease.
If you don’t treat your body well, you’re going to feel frustrated because it won’t look or feel the way you want it to.
It’s time to remember that you have been given the task to care for your body.
It’s time to take your health into your own hands by taking care of yourself.
Quite simply it’s time.
Whatever you’ve been on the fence about in the realm of your health, make a decision to start today.
It doesn’t have to be huge. Take one small step at a time but be consistent with it. Over time you’ll see progress happening.
I’d love to help hold you accountable to your health goals. Feel free to send me an email telling me what your goals are and how you are planning to achieve them.
