Last time I went over a few scenarios about people that used to be active due to the situation that they were in, and now that they are out of those situations they can’t seem to get back into the shape that they used to be in.

So if you could relate to any of those scenarios that I set out, you have to realize that if your past experience was built due to someone telling you what to do, then you haven’t built up the mental ability to completely do it on your own without that accountability. You’ve built the ability to use that accountability of a team or group and working together for that, but you haven’t worked to find your own way to make it happen. And as we become adults, no one is there anymore to be telling us to go outside and play. We are told growing up that we should be active and then we become adults and are told to sit at a desk for eight to ten hours a day and stare at a computer. It’s crazy! So as adults we have to build those new ideas, and build that new way of holding ourselves accountable.

So, most of the time those two entities are tied to the group idea because they’re depending on you to get your stuff done. And it comes from a winning aspect. You are going to win the game, or you’re going to win whatever situation that you are in. And then it also ties into someone being in direct control of your physical well being and telling you how to get things done. So then we get older, and we start regressing, we start trying to find a way back in, and it is frustrating.

I had this friend that I was talking to today and she was telling me that her plan for this week was to start exercising. She has everything that she needs at home, she knows what to do, and she was going to start this week with getting up early and getting it done. And then she told me “Now it’s Tuesday and I haven’t gotten anything done”.

The accountability is the first part of this, and the plan is the second part. So if you don’t have the accountability to get it done, then no plan is going to work for you. And if you don’t have a great plan that’s going to work for you, then that accountability isn’t going to matter to you. So they kind of go hand in hand. You have to have the right fit for you.

What you have to realize in this moment is perhaps you’ve been out of the game for awhile, and you need a plan of action. You need something different. Because your body in this moment in time is different than it was back then. You can’t do the same things that you did back then because at this moment, especially once you reach your late twenties and early thirties, you have used and abused your body to its core. Now it’s finally hitting back and won’t take it anymore.

So the same little tactics that you used before where you would diet and start running for a few days, that isn’t going to work the same. Your hormones are different, your body is different, things function differently, and you really don’t absorb things at the same rate that you used to. Because you aren’t as young as you used to be and you’ve had a lot more years to breathe in a lot more toxins. So you have to be able to fight that and break down that inflammation to bring your body back into that balance, and basically start over. But if you’re going to do that you are going to need a new plan.
