Normally as we draw nearer to the end of the year, people don’t want to hear about it. We become frustrated by the thought of another year having flown by…
Or is the frustration we feel that we’ve not accomplished what we set out to do originally?
Of course, with situations as they are, that may not be the case this year ;o)
Even though most people don’t set new year resolutions any more, it doesn’t mean that we don’t create in our minds a vision of a better year.
In fact whether we voice it or not, most people desire to improve in at least one area of our lives each year.
In this spirit is where I come to you today. We have only 87 days left in 2020.
What areas of your life were you intent on improving back in January? (You know before the world turned upside down and all)
What have you accomplished so far?
For too many, the accomplishments won’t be recognized because they are looking for the finish line that they’ve yet to cross.
This might look like not losing enough weight or not improving a condition completely.
Remember that often the habits you are consistently building are much more important than that finish line.
It may seem odd if you haven’t been thinking that way but I know too many who have reached their own personal finish line just to blink and end up right back where they started or worse.
Instead, if you celebrate the wins…ALL of them, you will not only reach your goals but continue past them on to even better things.
So yes, celebrate the victories in your day, your week, your month and yes, even this year. Maybe it’s that you figured out a system for working and working out at home, or perhaps you’ve managed to learn how to feed yourself and your family well from home with less trips for fast food.
Every win counts!
What is left to do?
So with your victories accounted for, think back to your original goal(s).
What’s left? What was forgotten or not followed through on?
How can you continue your goal of improving over the next 87 days?
Perhaps you haven’t been quite consistent with your workouts or your personal time. Maybe your nutrition habits have fallen by the wayside due to stress or uncertainty.
Today’s the day to hit the restart button. You get another chance, there is no “too late”. There’s still time.
What is 1 small thing you can do today that will push you forward to make 2020 end up being your best year yet?
No matter what the goal is, was, or will be, remember to break it down into small pieces that resemble habits. Pick 1 thing to do each day that will move you closer to your goals. We’d love to help you. Give us a call at 806-322-3188.
