So last time we were talking about what you used to do, and showing up, doing what you did before, may not be right in the moment. So what do we do? Well, the first thing we do is we look for help, right? There is no shortage of help online. I can tell you that I can’t even count how many video sites there are now, and 10 years ago that wasn’t even the case. You’ve got video sites, you’ve got books, you’ve got podcasts, you’ve got Instagram, you’ve got Pinterest. You name it, it’s on there. But is it the right advice for you? So it’s the same idea as the classes at the gym. Are they the right thing for you at the moment? Are they going to help you to reach your goal set?
So recently I was talking with a friend who decided to jump into the keto idea, which for some people that’s great, but for her body it wasn’t the right thing to do, and for her brain it was not the right thing to do because within a few weeks her brain was very upset about what was going on. Her body started showing negative effects of doing it. Now granted, there’s a million different ways to do the keto. I’m not even going to get into that today. But as she went through, she went to a doctor to see about these issues that she was having, and they very sternly told her to get off that diet for her unique body. So again, not that the keto’s bad, I’m using that as a reference to show you that not every person needs to do everything out there. Right?
So what if you had a way to avoid these misconceptions and to find exactly what you should be doing for your body, have a done-for-you plan, and get to your goals? Wouldn’t that be great? The answer is a trainer. So having a fitness trainer who has been certified with one of the top four certifications in the nation, who has experience in helping people reach the goals that you’re wanting to reach, who has a level of compassion for people who are reaching those goals, that’s important. All you have to do is ask for help.
So we used to make a lot of jokes, at least whenever I was little, that men had a hard time asking for help and directions. Right? So as we went through that phase, now we’ve kind of turned that into everybody, haven’t we? Most people are afraid to ask for help. They’re afraid to ask for more direction on where they should be going or how to get there. Maybe they have in mind where they should be, but they just don’t know the path to take, and that’s where having a fitness professional can really come in handy.
A trainer is more than, as I’ve heard, maybe a rented friend or someone to stand there and count your reps. A trainer is creating that precise program for you from exercise, if they’re legally allowed to, nutrition, lifestyle modification. They should be there with you through those stages, and it should be more than a workout, more than just showing up on their end too, so that they’re not just showing up to deliver your workout, say, “Hey, great job, I’ll see you in three days,” but rather a true support team, a real helper in your goals, trying to get to where you want to be, and helping to drive you forward every single day, every single month, to make sure that you’re getting what you need.
