Hi guys, Kris from Custom Fitness here, your Amarillo personal trainer. Today we’re going to be wrapping up the two part series on 4 things you must do this weekend to be successful next week. Now be sure to read part one if you haven’t already at the link here: And as always, if you have any questions about today’s blog then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188
So last time I was talking about setting up your weekend to be successful through food. We ended on the subject of meal prep, and I have a few more things to say about that.
For the kids, I like to go ahead and chop up the veggies and things like that and go ahead and make little snack baggies, so that way then they’re all set to go. For when they’re packing lunches, they like to help me out with that, then they’ll just reach in, grab a baggie, throw it in their lunch box, and they’re ready to go. It’s no question on how much did I get or what did I get. We know that we’re grabbing something, a little bit of everything. So, food preps a big one. And again, it doesn’t have to take forever and it doesn’t have to be in specific containers or anything like that. Just make it work for your family.
I like to food prep a little bit on the weekend and then I have food more during the week, as far as making extra meals. So, I’ll make one big meal for the weekend that we can use throughout the week in case we have late nights or crazy night where we just can’t get it done. But then during the week if I’m gonna make a big meal, say on Tuesday or Wednesday, then I’m gonna make sure and prep that out into smaller containers. Freeze some, put the rest in the fridge and be able to have that as well, so that way I don’t have to spend all day on the weekend getting my food prep done.
All right, number three may seem kind of surprising, but exercise. If you will exercise this weekend, some form or fashion, Monday’s gonna feel so much better, your exercise next week is gonna be more beneficial, your eating next week is going balance out a little bit better.
When we don’t exercise on the weekends, we tend to have that terrible Monday feeling, where you’re dreading Monday and you don’t feel like going, especially to go workout. You haven’t done it in two days, so the body doesn’t feel like great. But it also causes us to eat more. It causes us to sit around and be more lazy, not have as much energy over the weekend.
So if we’re not exercising, we can’t get our meal prep done or the grocery store or those other things because we don’t have energy to use fast. So exercising on the weekends, huge bonus. Make sure you get something in. It could be as little as 10 or 15 minutes, it could be going for a walk with the family, it could be doing some yoga, doing some strength training. It could be a full out workout. Whatever you want to do, but make sure you exercise.
All right, number four is rest. We work so hard as Americans. All day long, every day and we rarely give ourselves time to rest because we work, work, work Monday through Friday and then Saturday and Sunday it feels like, “Okay, it’s time to party and do something fun. So we’re just not gonna sleep now because we wanna do what we wanna do.” And to a point, I get that, but your body still needs rest.
If you have the opportunity to give it rest on the weekend, please do. I know that there are just some weekends that I’ve gotta sleep in a little bit, not get up at the same time, or I’ve gotta go to bed a little bit earlier just to kind of make up for the lack of sleep that I’ve had over the week from whatever stresses have been going on. If I’m staying up late, getting work done, or if I’m just not sleeping well because something’s happening.
So resetting on the weekend, taking that time to rest the body after you get in some exercise, taking that time is really gonna be substantially important for making sure that you’re successful next week.
So to make your next week successful, those four things are things that we do in our house every week to make sure that next week goes really smoothly. Because when it goes smooth, it’s just one of those “Ah” moments where you just feel great. But whenever it goes chaotic, it really makes you want to pull your hair out, makes it for a very hard week. So if you can kind of plan ahead now for next week, then you’ll start to see some dramatic improvements, I bet.
That is going to wrap up our series on 4 things you must do this weekend to be successful next week! I hope that you all enjoyed this series and will apply some of these ideas to your weekly routine.
