Improving or Standing Still? by Custom Fitness: Amarillo Personal Trainers

Hi guys,  Kris from Custom Fitness here, your Amarillo personal trainer. Today we’re going to be talking about improving or standing still. If you have any questions about today’s blog, then please give us a call at (806)-322-3188

So, for a lot of people, it can be too easy to just “go along” with a program for an unmeasured amount of time hoping and looking for results but never finding them. It seems to me like in this day and age, everyone is out to spend as little as possible on their health and fitness. Sadly, that leads to many businesses providing as little as possible. This means that you may be getting a workout without receiving the benefits you are looking for!

As a personal trainer in Amarillo, I’ve been working with clients in the panhandle for almost 20 years now. From being in the industry for so long, biggest pet peeve is that I see that too many of the so called professionals don’t really care if you reach your goals or not because they know that if you do, you might not continue to pay them anymore.

The state of this industry concerns me. That’s why my team and I are trying to create a cultural shift. We understand that you can pay less at a big box gym as opposed to hiring a professional, but have you ever considered that at the gym you’re more like a barcode than a person?

If you miss a workout, or a few weeks of a workout, do they call to check in on you? When you are struggling with your weight loss do they offer solutions to fit your unique needs? If you are having trouble with your back, knee, or any other part of you, do they offer a way to maintain your fitness without risking further of injury? There are so many areas that desperately need improvement within our health and fitness industry but we, as the public, need to begin to understand that we deserve more.

When you pay rock bottom prices (like the whole $10 per month thing), you are going to have to understand that you will be getting less quality for that price. I’m not saying that you have to spend thousands to improve your health and fitness, but what I am saying is if you went to the dollar store for a crock pot and when you came home, it set itself on fire, you couldn’t be too upset with the outcome…could you?

When we look at the cold, hard facts we will find that our body, our health and our life are the largest assets we have. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do anything.

When you think about it more in that mindset, it makes you wonder how it is that people tend to spend more money and time on their cars than they do their health. Just take a moment to think about all of the oil changes, tire changes, car washes and more that have gone into your last vehicle. Have you spent nearly the same amount of time or money on your health in the last year? Your body is your vehicle for this life that you are living.

In the end, you really have 2 options; you can choose to improve our health or stand still in our health. Improving means progress. Progress in health means progress in physique (muscle tone, fat loss, etc.), but standing still means regression. If you aren’t working forward, you are moving backwards. That means that while you may be saving money now by not investing in your health, in the future you will have to spend that money (probably 10 fold) to regain your health.

So what does all of this mean? It means that you have a choice today in how you will take care of or ignore your health and fitness needs.

If you are the super accountable personality type who doesn’t need someone to remind them to stay on track, and you have a brain (or computer) full of ideas that work for you, then you my friend are probably the perfect candidate for a typical gym. Go in there and get it done! I’m cheering you on!

However, if you are the personality type that needs some help with accountability and motivation, or perhaps you just don’t feel confident in how to use the gym’s machines, then an investment in a personal trainer or health coach could be the right solution for you.

Let me give you an example- at Custom Fitness, we have an entire team of fitness and nutrition professionals that help you to create and reach your goals through customized workouts, nutrition coaching and lifestyle modifications. We want our clients to know that they are more than a barcode, they are family. We make every effort to not only meet them where they are at currently but to guide them forward while taking time to ensure their success.

If they have a bad day or “fall off the wagon”, we want to be there to check in with them, regroup and adjust the plan. We provide consistent change of program and nutrition to help them avoid that dreaded plateau and as we reach current goals, we help them to create new ones.

Mostly though, as a family, we want to help make sure that their efforts are rewarded by giving them education that will help them keep the results they gain for a lifetime. We want to not only know each and every one of our clients but we want to celebrate with them through their successes.

Our studio is not a gym, it’s a place where people find a new way to reach their goals. Our studio is filled with the desire to create a cultural shift where health is cherished, successes are celebrated and every dollar you spend gives you 10 times the value back. We may not be the right fit for everyone, but are we the right fit for you?

If you want to get your consultation set up, give us a call at 806-322-3188 or email us at At Custom Fitness, we are YOUR personal trainers in Amarillo, Texas. Have a great day.
