Do you want to live life to the fullest? Well doesn’t everyone right now. It’s January and I happen to be in the fitness industry, and goodness knows that it’s the time where a lot of people get a kickstart, which is awesome!


There is a point in the year where everyone kind of finds focus within themselves. They start to notice that certain things aren’t feeling right, or that they could be and feel better, and then they seek out that help. That’s great, because sometimes it really does take a village to make things happen. Having support and accountability is great!


So what I really wanted to talk about today is the idea that life is really 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. You might have heard that before. There’s no statistics that I can put in to support this, but it’s a concept that I love.

If life is 10% of what happens to you, you can choose to really focus on that and find disgust, frustration, and anger with it. Or, you you can focus on the 90% that you have the ability to control. You can control your reactions to what happens to you.


So, have you ever noticed that as the human race, we are really notorious for having slow reaction times. We just don’t have that speed when it comes to important issues. Now, driving in a car having to slam your brakes for a someone running a red light is a different kind of reaction time than what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the reaction time for you feeling frustration within yourself.

Maybe your weight has gone over what you’re really comfortable with. Maybe your clothes aren’t fitting right. This all causes frustration.

Maybe you’ve learned to settle for the aches and pain that you have. You have arthritis and chronic pains, and you just decide that it’s something you have to deal with as a result of getting older. Maybe it’s the discomfort you feel from health issues like inflammation in the gut. Maybe it’s responses to foods that you’re allergic to that’s causing migraines or worse, causing consistent gut issues like IBS.


There’s a lot of ways that we suffer through life instead of thriving through life. And the reason we do that is because we slow down our reaction time. So you have these things happen to you, and instead of seeking out a solution you may just decide that it’s something that you’ll just have to suffer through, and you start to become less than what you should be.


When January comes in, I get excited. I absolutely love January because it kicks in this reaction; it causes people to really think about who they are and what they feel. People start to get determined to change and I think that’s wonderful. It really provides a fresh start. 2018 is a whole new year with 365 days for you to make a fresh start with!

Now there’s no reason to wait until January 1st to start making changes, but I think it’s wonderful that people take that opportunity to start fresh with their health. And if you do it right, you’re not only going to get results, but a lifetime of better health and a better physique. This will come from doing what you’re supposed to do and following a plan consistently. And if it’s the right plan for your body, then that makes a huge difference.

Now if you go on those crash diets, or go to those workouts where afterwards you can’t even feel your legs, it might be too much and you won’t be likely to continue.

Remember that consistency is always key. If you aren’t being consistent with what you’re doing, it’s not going to provide the benefits that you’re truly seeking. So, to see true results that last a lifetime, consistency is the number one factor.
